CANARY SEED
Canary seed looks similar to linseed, although slightly fatter, but is not to be confused with
canary grass. It is a lower input crop and relatively easy to grow. It has low demand for
fertiliser and no disease control is required, however aphids can be found on the ear. Weed control must be done prior to emergence and in some cases a PGR application may be recommended along with desiccation prior to harvest.
Still only grown on a small scale in the UK, canary seed is destined for the wild bird and caged bird feed market.
Varieties vary upon availability so please get in contact to discuss current options.
